Import of transactions from MS Excel

Norman Winterling. Monday, May 11, 2009

The import function makes it easy to capture your transactions.

The sals.a import table in Excel format is now available for various transaction types (interest rate, exchange rate and commodities transactions, short-term municipal loans and interest rate swaps). It allows capturing of numerous transactions in one easy step. If your data is already managed in Excel format, you simply copy the relevant content of the columns into the sals-a import table. With just 5-7 parameters, which describe the full range of transactions, you can use sals.a to analyse and generate a report on all of your transactions.

A new feature in this context is the direct import into your selected portfolios: using the relevant fields in the column “Import to Portfolio” in the sals.a import table, you can select the target portfolio for the transactions. sals.a then imports the data directly to the portfolios you select. And, you no longer need to create the target portfolio yourself. If the target portfolio doesn’t exist, it will be automatically created.

1. Open your Excel table containing the transaction data. Then, in sals.a, click on “Add” → “Import Excel file”.
